I wanted to write something about yesterday’s Amazon news that they were shutting down their AmazonSmile charitable giving program because it wasn’t creating enough “impact” that just coincidentally happened on the same day they laid off 18,000 employees, but The Verge has a great writeup this morning echoing many of my sentiments: I wish Amazon had been honest about why it’s sunsetting AmazonSmile
Seeing the Twitter 3rd party app news, I pulled up Tweetbot this morning for the first time in 3+ days.
I used to open it in every free moment during the day. If this change isn’t a “bug”, it’ll be the final nail that causes me to never use Twitter again. And my life will be better for it.
According to the announcement it’ll be about 1/4th the size of Universal’s other parks. By time it’s built my kids would be getting too old but considering the site is about 10 miles from us this is definitely interesting news.
Truly remarkable work and that’s despite just how ugly I find all of Selick’s work. Wendell & Wild’s story and characters were great and definitely connected with me the most of any of his films.
Such a great performance by Mara Wilson and great job by all the actual 6 year olds playing 6 year olds. Too much time early with the family and focusing on the adults.
Watched this with the kids because they (and I) loved the new Matilda the Musical adaptation on Netflix. They liked this version ok but definitely still prefer the new musical and not just because its newer and “old things are boring and not funny.”
In a mostly fun movie where Sandra Bullock is supposed to be a hacker but constantly has no clue how the Internet works, the most unbelievable thing is that she could really spend more than 30 seconds talking to Dennis Miller without punching him in the face.
He’s supposed to be her ex? But maybe her therapist too?
