Yahoo lays off the leaders of Engadget to focus on SEO “content.” It hasn’t been the same in a long time but I’ve checked Engadget several times per day for close to 20 years and this news that they’ve fired a bunch of people to focus on SEO is super depressing. Guess it might be finally time to replace the bookmark with something else.

Artifact AI-based news app from Instagram cofounders is shutting down. I tried it for a few weeks while Reddit was imploding but it only got worse and worse as they added more features and started to do the sort of things free apps relying on algorithms and desperate for astronomical user growth seem to have to do.

Until they get the thickness down a good bit more the tradeoffs don’t feel worth it, but having something that is usually phone sized that can expand to iPad size would be very useful imo.
