Nimona was one of my favorite movies of 2023 and the kids loved it too, if you don’t have Netflix it is now available in full to watch free on YouTube:
Also, very interesting move from Netflix and presumably a trial run at doing this more often?

Why does the main villain sometimes wear a white button up and a tie like he works at IBM or JCPenneys?
Just generally ugly to look at at all times. Uninteresting plot, no world building, not a single character with any personality.
Who thought they were doing a good job while making this?

I apparently need to re-read The Three-Body Problem because this trailer for the upcoming Netflix show looks great but I have ZERO recollection of reading any book like what was in the trailer.
This was rough. Best song by far is in the trailer and in general this is just awkward and sub average musical. A huge portion of this story and multiple bad songs are about the entire school of 12-13 year olds openly talking and planning so two of them can kiss including the two of them that want to kiss. It feels like a story about 13 year olds written by an 8 year old.
Based on other reviews they butchered the stage version so maybe I’ll get a chance to watch that sometime.

Wife is watching a totally decent just released Netflix rom-com where Rachel Leigh Cook is falling in love in Vietnam and they went to a remote village and she just came down the stairs in a new dress and her hair pulled back and it was kinda great. I am a little bummed they didn’t needle drop a Vietnamese cover of “Kiss Me” though.
Update: Found a Vietnamese cover of “Kiss Me” on YouTube. Ha!
Truly remarkable work and that’s despite just how ugly I find all of Selick’s work. Wendell & Wild’s story and characters were great and definitely connected with me the most of any of his films.
