Epic is laying off over 800 people and selling Bandcamp.
This is direct and predictable result of all the consolidation in games industry and in general. It’s not like Epic isn’t colossally profitable.
Why on earth does Epic needs over 8,000 employees and why do they own Bandcamp in the first place?
This is why the Microsoft/Activision merger deserved all the antitrust attention it got from regulators, if not more.
Is it weird that Star Trek: Lower Decks is pretty much the only Star Trek tv series I’ve ever watched? (Not counting the TNG I passively consumed growing up with nerdy brother.)
It’s just a great, consistently funny show. And it’s 22 minutes long.

The last production pulled this from a 3 to 4 for me. Overall pretty funny and some good songs. Molly Gordon is great. Not sure my theater kid is old enough to get most of the humor but we will see.

Braves beat the Phillies to clinch their sixth straight National League East title.
Since it’s not my upgrade year, 6 and 12 terabyte iCloud plans my most impactful Apple announcement of the day. Been at like 1.95 TB for months and had to clean a bunch of stuff off kids’ iPads to get there.
Been a looooooong time Texas played a complete game like this against anybody, let a lone on the road against a top 3 team.
Lauren Mayberry of Chvrches has a new solo single out.
She’s also doing a solo tour. Definitely different vibe than her music with Chvrches but I like it. Somehow I missed this news back in July.
Chvrches is easily my favorite band of the last decade (maybe ever?) so selfishly this makes me a bit nervous about their future. “Over” just came out 6 months ago and was FANTASTIC so hopefully this has nothing to do with the future of the band.
