Considering I completely disagreed that several of these even are time travel movies (*cough* Demolition Man *cough*), this is a great fun Incomparable episode and I saved several new things to my watchlist.
“dad with two annoying daughters, who are crying because they just got in trouble, pixar style”
Trolling my daughters with Midjourney prompts as they argue over who gets to help with the next creation: “dad with two annoying daughters, who are crying because they just got in trouble, pixar style”
Bottom right one was our favorite, not sure why the other ones ended up with clown makeup. Ha.
Roasted chicken or croissant?
Gowalla is back, wants all your contacts’ data
Gowalla is back from the dead and available on the App Store.
I downloaded the app but couldn’t make it through signup flow. They’ve made the baffling decision to require sharing your entire contacts’ data. There are zero scenarios where I’ll do that. (Pretty ironic “we respect your privacy” note on the same screen.)
My phone’s address book also has virtually no relationship to who I’d use an app like Gowalla with. Am I going to share stickers with my plumber, my grandma, and my kid’s second grade teacher?
Red McCombs passes away
San Antonio billionaire Red McCombs, whom I once used a urinal next to in a business school with his name on it, has passed away at 95.

Sam Bankman-Fried is not a child
Sam Bankman-Fried is not a child:
“On one hand, literal children are portrayed in the media as adults, and treated as such in the prison system; on the other, a man who’s been old enough to vote for over a decade is being described as “a young man in need of both defense and a friend” offering refreshments to a reporter “as if we were there for a playdate”.”

I wanted to write something about yesterday’s Amazon news that they were shutting down their AmazonSmile charitable giving program because it wasn’t creating enough “impact” that just coincidentally happened on the same day they laid off 18,000 employees, but The Verge has a great writeup this morning echoing many of my sentiments: I wish Amazon had been honest about why it’s sunsetting AmazonSmile
Twitter 3rd party apps are broken
Seeing the Twitter 3rd party app news, I pulled up Tweetbot this morning for the first time in 3+ days.
I used to open it in every free moment during the day. If this change isn’t a “bug”, it’ll be the final nail that causes me to never use Twitter again. And my life will be better for it.
A new kids-themed Universal Studios park coming to Frisco
According to the announcement it’ll be about 1/4th the size of Universal’s other parks. By time it’s built my kids would be getting too old but considering the site is about 10 miles from us this is definitely interesting news.
