Diablo 4 or staying employed? Hmmm…
As a person whose sophomore year GPA is a full 1.0 lower than every other year of college thanks largely due to Diablo II, I probably shouldn’t be on the Diablo IV preorder page but here we are.
“Happy work anniversary, here’s your $1 bonus”
Employee recognition and rewards platforms are a scam so they can give you 100 “points” instead of fair compensation and proper recognition. 100 points is worth literally one US dollar.
MLB to produce, distribute Padres games starting today
The shoe (guillotine?) has finally dropped on the exceedingly unstable relationship between the bankrupt Bally’s Sports/Sinclair Broadcast Group and Major League Baseball: MLB to produce, distribute Padres games starting today
As an MLB.tv subscriber and Braves fan, this whole Bally-hoo has of course had me generally interested in what will happen with all this. Pleasantly surprised (and interested in the legal/contractural details) that MLB was able to keep the Padres’ announcing crew for the new broadcasts. (via Six Colors)
Using Arc as dedicated separate video browser
Trying out Arc as a dedicated browser just for video. I tried Arc out a while ago and bounced off pretty quickly, but it has good picture-in-picture support and I like having that stuff separated. Putting it a different app and on a different monitor than my main browser keeps it out of the way and also makes app switching/window management cleaner. We’ll see how it goes.
LA Dodgers rainbow-washing
The Los Angeles Dodgers have disinvited a LGBTQIA+ group that they were going to HONOR with a COMMUNITY HERO AWARD from their PRIDE NIGHT because Catholics complained. Starting to think maybe just maybe the Dodgers might not actually care about LGBTQIA+ issues and they were just rainbow-washing if they bailed so quickly when bigots 2,000 miles away complained.
Braves at Rangers in Arlington
Braves in town versus Rangers. Chance to see Spencer Strider and Ronald Acuna Jr. in person.
Left the family at home. Much more reasonable to but good midweek tickets when you’re only buying one. Ha.
The Lightning Thief (by Rick Riordan) – ★★★★
Rated this maybe a 2.5-star after my initial listen on Audible, but enjoyed it quite a bit more on this reread with the actual paperback.
My oldest kid is very into the entire Rick Riordan catalog but surprisingly never read the Percy Jackson books so I read this to her a little bit at a time at bedtime. (Seriously there’s more than 20 Riordan books and she’s read almost all of them except this main series for some reason.) Not sure if it was the audiobook’s fault or just the extra joy of reading with my kid but I found both the story and Riordan’s writing itself much more engrossing this time.

24 hours left
I am a little over 24 hours from being able to punt the client MacBook that is constantly a baffling and frustrating complete disaster to use into the FRIGGIN’ SEA.
(I am an approximately 6 hours from anything resembling a sea, the commute will be worth it.)
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is here
Ready and waiting. Now have to work and sit in meetings for next 8 hours while Zelda:TotK stares at me.
